San Diego People First Conference 2008
SDPF hosted it's 18th annual, Self-Advocacy Conference on Saturday June 21 to Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Mission Valley Marriott. The theme this year was "Celebrating the Power of a Dream."
The temperature wasn't the only thing that was hot at the conference. Over 425 self-advocates showed up. Cory Johnson of Calgary, Canada delivered a powerful keynote address recounting his life and living with CP and strokes. He engaged the audience with humor telling them how he overcame childhood bullying and police harassment. There were 10 informative workshops ranging from Self-Directed Services to Stress Management. We had hairstylers, chair massagers, a talent show, an awards dinner, and a dance.
