Accomplishments for 2004

Accomplishments

San Diego People First has Accomplished the following in 2004


  • Designed and created a door for the Passageways: Open Hearts, Open Minds art exhibit.
  • Created and launched this website.
  • Started work on redesigning its brochure.
  • Successfuly completed the Soup's on fund-raiser.
  • Participated in a grant related training on developing an IPP Buddy System and have started the design to implement the Buddy System in San Diego. In Addition, San Diego People First received funds to help with implementing the project.
  • We conducted the annual holiday drive in San Diego People First made and delivered 30 gift baskets to Rachel's Women's Shelter.
  • We conducted voter eduction and outreach and provided either training or information packet to over 500 people.
  • We held an officer retreat to help officers to get to know one another and to establish goals and to set priorities for the 2004/2005 year.
  • We entered into a partnership with San Diego City Schools.
  • We entered into a partnership with San Diego State Unviersity's Interwork Institute. It received grant funding to develop a Center for Emerging Leaders and is looking to us for input and guidance as they create leadership and employment opportunities for young adults.
  • San Diego People First now has a P.O. Box for our mail.
  • We successfully helped to coordinate and conduct the 2004 San Diego People First conference.
  • We are currently planning the Annual San Diego People First Conference to be held in April 2005.
  • San Diego People First provides assistance to Imperial Valley People First at their annual conference.
  • San Diego People First Speakers Bureau continues to provide presentations to the community on Self Advocacy, People First and other disability related issues.
